There are fashion shows that simply present clothes, and then there are shows capable of marking a before and after.
ZIFEI WANG’s Milan debut for Spring/Summer 2027 undoubtedly belongs to the latter category: a true immersion into something alive, fluid and free from boundaries. Against the majestic Baroque backdrop of Palazzo Isimbardi, the brand founded in 2014 and developed along the Beijing-London axis unveiled Limina of Transition, a collection that rejects the trap of nostalgia to reinterpret tradition as something vibrant and future-facing.
At the heart of the vision lies the philosophy of Zhuangzi and the principle of perpetual metamorphosis. For the designer, the concept of limina — Latin for “thresholds” — represents an open space in between, a living place where forms, identities and gender codes are never permanently defined. The body is liberated and explored through forty menswear and womenswear looks, where masculine and feminine elements blend into one another, dissolving into a fluid and universal language.

What makes the experience particularly powerful is the visual collision between China’s ancestral craftsmanship and radical innovation. On the runway, centuries-old techniques meet sculptural, deconstructed volumes: precious Suzhou embroidery and intricate Song brocade coexist with the natural simplicity of plant-based dyes and handcrafting. Yet this textile heritage is not confined to the past. Instead, it opens itself to the future through 3D printing and distinctly urban silhouettes, embracing a sharp, almost punk attitude.
The event, created with the support of JD.com and facilitated by Harper’s BAZAAR China, demonstrated how fashion and technology can merge without compromising craftsmanship. The dialogue between Eastern heritage and Western deconstruction creates an aesthetic balance of striking impact.
At Palazzo Isimbardi, ZIFEI WANG proves that cultural memory is not a burden to be preserved under glass, but a malleable material capable of crossing eras and transforming itself.
An incisive debut that establishes the brand as one of the most compelling and innovative voices of Fashion Week.
