How to sketch a roaring 20s Joan of Arc with pencil — Fantamoda style

Come disegnare Joan of Arc ruggenti anni Venti a matita — in stile Fantamoda

1. Start with the silhouette base

ENG: Begin by lightly tracing a vertical central line to anchor the posture. Sketch the head as an oval and draw a tall, elongated body — legs especially. Fantamoda’s proportions are hyper-stylized: think 9-heads-tall.

2. Block the pose

ENG: Build the architecture of the stance — one hip higher (attitude!), one leg bent. Shoulders tilted, hand on the waist. Create rhythm in the pose: it must scream ‘fashion’.

Spalle inclinate, mano in vita. Crea ritmo nella posa: deve gridare ‘moda’.

3. Refine the anatomy and style the face

ENG: Draw the arms and torso using cylinders and tubes. Add stylized hands. For the face: bangs, almond eyes, thin nose, dramatic mouth. Expression? Controlled drama.

ITA: Disegna braccia e busto usando cilindri e tubi. Aggiungi mani stilizzate. Espressione? Dramma controllato.

4. Design the outfit in layers

ENG: Create geometric layering: sheer structured top with pleated long sleeves, cinched waist with corset feel, and a mid-length knife-pleated skirt. Think modern armor meets ballet rebel.

5. Add shading for depth

ENG: Use light pencil pressure for fabric transparency and strong strokes for pleats and shadows. Emphasize creases on the sleeves and folds of the skirt. Use diagonals to guide the eye.

 6. Final touches: attitude & proportion

ENG: Make sure the pose is exaggerated, but balanced. The right leg crosses the left, creating movement. Keep hands elegant, eyes sharp, and heels impossibly high.

7. Signature & scan

ENG: Sign your sketch with style. Scan it in black-and-white at high resolution. Keep the background clean to let your design breathe.
