Lonard Watches: Italian craftsmanship meets Swiss precision in a celebration of time and tradition.
A Sardinian legacy: Where time begins
What begins as an aperitivo dream—two brothers-in-law, a Sardinian sunset, gin swirling in vintage glasses—becomes the genesis of a horological ode. Lonard, named after sons Lorenzo and Leonardo, isn’t just a brand. It’s a familial promise cast in stainless steel and sapphire crystal.

Each watch is an intimate ritual of craftsmanship: Swiss or Japanese mechanical movements, no batteries, no shortcuts. Only the sound of time—rhythmic, analog, sincere. From the architectural echoes of the Infinity, inspired by the mystical Pozzo di Santa Cristina, to the dual-time Terraluxe GMT, engraved with Sardinian soul, to the boldly aquatic Sonar, channeling the dive watches of the disco years—Lonard wears like a story.
But the truth is, it’s not about watches. It’s about moments. The first espresso of the morning, a kiss before boarding a plane, the golden glow of a coastal drive in June. Lonard isn’t selling you time—it’s inviting you to feel it.

The Lonard Aesthetic: Mechanical Precision Meets Mediterranean Emotion
In a world obsessed with the digital now, Lonard dares to rewind. The Lap01 “Coffee” edition? A caffeinated love letter to form and function. The Dressy line with Sellita movements? As fluid at dinner in Rome as it is on the ferry to La Maddalena.

Each piece is subjected to rigorous quality control—not because perfection is a trend, but because it’s tradition. And partnerships matter: when Gioielleria Rosaspina stocks your work, you know you’ve entered the realm of wearable art.
Lonard shows up where stories begin: at Watches of Italy, in the hands of influencers like Sacha Hebrard, and increasingly, on the wrists of a new wave of conscious consumers who seek something real. No performative branding. Just heritage, soul, and a heartbeat powered by gears—not algorithms.
1. Lonard was born from a family bond and a shared dream. Can you tell us about the precise moment when you realized a watch could become a symbol of your idea of elegance?
My partner, who is also my brother-in-law, and I have spent years exchanging thoughts about the fascinating world of watchmaking. We’ve been passionate about it since we were boys, often losing ourselves for hours studying and analyzing our collections and beyond.
One evening in particular, over a glass of strictly Sardinian wine (just one, we promise 😉), we were holding an old watch Antonio had just repaired and brought back to life. It was a mechanical Monvis that had belonged to my grandfather and was passed down to my father. For my dad, that watch holds more value than a complicated Rolex or a Patek Philippe — to name two sacred giants of horology.
That night, we realized that this wasn’t just an object. It was a symbol — of shared moments, of tradition, of timeless style. A mechanical watch like that, when cared for, never dies. And in that awareness, we found the spark: the idea to create something that would celebrate authenticity, rich in meaning and crafted detail.
2. What does “celebrating time” mean to you? And how do your watches reflect that concept in terms of aesthetics and functionality?
To celebrate time is to live each moment mindfully, to embrace the quality in life’s simplest pleasures, and to elevate daily rituals. It means honoring la dolce vita — our Italian way of being together, cherishing family, and finding beauty not just in things, but in meaning.
Our watches are made to be both beautiful and functional — refined in line and minimalist in design, crafted to accompany the wearer through their day as a reminder that time is a gift, meant to be lived with those we love.
3. Lonard design is essential and refined, but never cold. What visual and cultural references have shaped your aesthetic — from Sardinia, Italy, and beyond?
This definition truly captures the soul of our brand. Simplicity, refinement, attention to every detail — this is Lonard. Each of our timepieces is born from our land: we allowed the nature and unique light of Sardinia to inspire the clean lines and finishes of our models.
Traditional Sardinian and Italian symbols are part of our design language. The Infinity, for example, is inspired by the sacred well of Santa Cristina. The Pintadera, an ancient Sardinian motif, is engraved on the caseback of the Terraluxe. Our Italian heritage taught us the value of craftsmanship and balance between modernity and tradition, while our Sardinian roots remind us to go beyond the material. That’s why we engraved the Pintadera — a symbol of family — on our most globally minded model, the GMT. Wherever you travel, it carries a story to share: Italy and Sardinia, told through time.
4. Choosing between Swiss or Japanese movements says a lot. How do precision and poetry coexist in your vision?
For us, technical precision is the foundation of a reliable watch. But that alone isn’t enough. Poetry emerges from the harmony between flawless movement and emotional design. We choose movements that represent excellence, but our aim is to create a timepiece that tells a story — a gesture of love toward time itself.
I have a humanistic background, and I believe poetry is intrinsically tied to who we are as people. Without it, we can’t fully express ourselves — and so we infuse it into our watches.
5. In an age dominated by smartwatches, you’ve chosen mechanical. Is it a declaration of love for the gesture, the slowness, the ritual?
Absolutely. In a world of speed and instant connections, the act of winding a mechanical watch is a return to slowness, to care, to respect for time.
We need to return to respecting time — the time we live, the time we enjoy. There’s something meditative about winding your watch in the morning, thinking about the day ahead, the people you’ll meet, the moments you’ll share. It’s about embracing ritual, tradition, and the pleasure of being present, not just optimizing every second for maximum efficiency.
6. Your storytelling includes “aperitifs with friends, slow lunches, perfect espresso.” Is this a life philosophy or a Mediterranean aesthetic to export?
It’s both. It’s a lifestyle philosophy that celebrates shared moments, everyday elegance, and calm. At the same time, it’s a Mediterranean aesthetic that’s universal — a visual invitation to slow down and savor the simple things, with authenticity and style.
7. “Made in Italy” is often overused today. How does Lonard truly stand out in terms of craftsmanship and supply chain?
Lonard stands out through obsessive attention to detail, careful material selection, and dedication to every single piece. We work with skilled artisans and believe that authenticity and quality are non-negotiable values for an Italian brand.
We’re not isolationists — the world is global and we embrace that. We learn from the world to interpret our pieces within the thread of tradition. That doesn’t stop us from valuing the legacy of a Swiss movement, for example, and the immense history it brings.
8. Who is your ideal client? Who do you imagine wearing a Lonard while watching the sea or toasting on a terrace?
We envision a passionate audience, attentive to detail and quality, lovers of the slow life who appreciate the beauty of shared moments. Whether an expert or simply a mechanical watch enthusiast, our client wears a Lonard not just for the look, but for the story it tells.
They’re the kind of person who wears a Lonard to enjoy a sunset, an aperitif with friends, or a quiet moment at home — someone who carries elegance and warmth in their soul. Yes, our vision is romantic — unapologetically so. It’s our essence.
9. What have you learned from this entrepreneurial journey that you never expected?
We’ve learned that listening to your customers and adapting — without losing your identity — is vital. Patience and dedication strengthen you. We realized that true success lies in creating an authentic bond with those who wear our watches.
When someone chooses Lonard, they’re choosing to enter a shared story. They expect to be treated like family. So if I had to summarize: we’ve discovered that there is no enterprise without connection — with collaborators, suppliers, and clients. Challenges? Of course — there are plenty. But those make you grow. What really makes a difference is the human bond that carries your brand through them.
